Acknowledgements
The LinguaFolio Training Modules were developed by Faye Rollings-Carter, and sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) in collaboration with NCSSFL, which is an organization of supervisors or personnel from all states of the United States who have the responsibility of foreign/world language education at the state level. Members of NCSSFL began the development of LinguaFolio based on the European Language Portfolio, and various NCSSFL members created and used the LinguaFolio training module contents.

Faye Rollings-Carter is a well-known pioneer in the development of LinguaFolio since its inception. As a member of NCSSFL and the former associate director for ESL and foreign languages at the Virginia Department of Education, Faye participated in the 2002 Transatlantic Dialogue in Düsseldorf, Germany, where learning about the European Language Portfolio became the basis and springboard for developing the Virginia LinguaFolio Pilot Program in 2004. Other states began to develop their own LinguaFolio initiatives as well, and LinguaFolio Virginia provided the base for the 5-state Consortium version.
As more states and departments began developing and using LinguaFolio, the goal to develop a national model became an official project sponsored by the NCSSFL organization. Currently, Faye is an education consultant and CEO of Rollings-Carter Consulting, LLC, an educational consulting company that provides assistance in curriculum and assessment audit, review and revision, and professional development and ongoing teacher training to schools, school districts, universities, and state departments of education.
In collaboration with NCSSFL, NCDPI was able to cooordinate with Faye Rollings-Carter to compile content and publish these LinguaFolio online training modules to assist teachers in creating an effective learning environment for language learners and in planning for the implementation of LinguaFolio as a formative assessment tool to accompany instruction. Funds from a federal Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant were used for the work required to convert face-to-face LinguaFolio training presentations to an online format, which could then be put onto a platform to be made available nationally.
ESL and World Languages staff from NCDPI worked with Faye Rollings-Carter and NCSSFL in the ongoing review during development and final rendition of the modules, which were originally published through LEARN NC at the University of North Carolina but have been housed here on the NCSSFL website since 2018.
